The Beauty of Branches and How to Decorate with Them
I have been contemplating writing about decorating with branches and twigs for a couple of weeks now. Silly blog topic …wood branch decor.
So here it is.
How to decorate with branches

Let’s discuss the Humble branch or a twig and how to add them to your everyday or seasonal decor. Infuse some nature into your space. Best thing yet these decorative sticks are free. I’m all for something for nothing!
The Easter Tree
Easter eggs are not just for hiding. The egg is used in many countries to decorate branches as a symbol of spring.
I purchased some small plastic Easter eggs from the dollar store and glued them to the branches.

Today, people all over the world create their own whimsical versions by gathering foraged branches into a vase and hanging ornaments made from dyed Easter eggs and more. Whether you have German or Swedish roots or are looking for a holiday-themed table decoration try one of these adorable takes on the trend.

Start a family tradition. My family makes memory eggs each Easter. Real eggs are blown and then decorated, telling a story or memory to share for the year. I really enjoy taking all the eggs out every Easter to display and read all the memories and stories that have been created on the eggs. It’s so sad when I drop one and it breaks!! So take note…make lots of eggs. Over the years so many get broken!

Easter trees also originate from a Swedish tradition known as Påskris, which strings all kinds of ornaments including Easter eggs and feathers on trees.

Great your guests with some fun Easter whimsy. Move your tree branch decor out side. Consider plastic eggs the wind really can blow these little eggs everywhere.

Here are some other Easter branch trees I love!

Branch Decor for Every Season
The Valentine’s Tree
Get romantic and glue some pink and red hearts on your twigs and branches.
The heart symbolizes love and giving someone a heart means to hand over one’s existence to someone.

As you can see I love to decorate my home for certain seasons. I must admit I have scaled the decor back a lot since the kids have flown the coop. You see my spring table decor here.

The Halloween Tree
For instance there was so much good stuff at the Dollar Store this Halloween I had a hard time deciding what to put on my branches. I decided to keep it simple and added some black crows.

Branches in the urn
And of course who does not have a planter with decorative sticks or branches in it for the holidays?

I reuse some of my twigs from season to season. A handful of twigs and branches can be so versatile in your decor!
There you have it a short visit, decorating with branches and twigs!
It’s A Room Changer!

Love the branches, the Easter eggs are great and the birds are perfect for Halloween. Great job. Lori
Thank you so much Lori!!
This is my favorite easy evergreen decor! My husband thought I was crazy bringing sticks in the house and has thrown them away a couple times 😠
I hear ya….hate it when that happens!! So true
Wow, love this, it looks so elegant yet makes the home feel welcoming and fun all at the same time. I do a lot of diy crafts and could see adding branches to a wine bottle or jar or vase I’ve decorated and then changing out decor for holiday or season, thanks for sharing!
So cute! I can’t imagine making real eggs and decorating them each year, none of them would ever survive around here! But it is a great idea.
Beautiful! Such creative ideas that are so easy to incorporate. Perfect timing for me as I’m still trying to transition my winter inspired mantle to spring. I think I know what I’ll be doing this weekend! Thanks for the inspiration!
Never thought of decorating my branches with eggs or evenon other holidays! Nice touch to add to a room.
These are amazing and creative! I am crazy about nature, so I think I will be making up some of these!
These are SO cute! Now I have a new decorating idea!
I love these ideas. I am in love with that white pitcher you used too.
I love this idea so much and its something that has never occurred to me that I can do! Decorating with branches looks so simple and it makes a nice big impact in the home!
I love the look of branches, but my oldest two boys love to play fight, and my two year old is always getting into trouble with the little decor that I have. Maybe when they are older. Thanks for the ideas!
So cute!! I love them!!! Different yet versatile!
Love the branches! I also appreciated seeing how you decorated them for different holidays.
Awww, I just LOVE the eggs on the branches. It’s so colorful and pretty.
These are such great ideas! I want to use a lot of branches at my wedding.
I am not into the eggs but love the idea of decorating with the branches and twigs. I love the rustic, wooden farmhouse style. Loved all the pictures though.
I loved your simple ideas for using twigs and branches. Every year our family has a thankful tree where we add paper leaves with what we are thankful for written on them. It’s a great reminder and a good autumn decoration. You can see it here: https://whatsoeverish.com/2018/11/01/thankful-tree
I love that idea!!
