5 Easy Steps to create a simple table setting.
I love setting a table. I have so much fun gathering items from around my home.
We have a cottage on a lake so there is no better place to set a special table and have dinner on the water than the dock.
1. Create a theme.
I chose a fishing Dad theme.
The biggest trick to setting a table is layering, layering and layering.
Use place mats, chargers, plates, bowls, glasses and perhaps something special displayed on the dinner plate.
3. Be thrifty and get crafty!
I gathered items I found around the cottage. There is no need to purchase anything. Chances are you already have items you can use around your home.
4. Napkins and table cloths are key.
Keep the look casual. I left the white linen table cloth crinkly.
I prefer cloth napkins. The napkins don’t all have to be the same. Consider using beautiful tea towels. These pieces of fabric add great colour and texture to any table.
Here’s my attempt at napkin folding…a men’s tie.
You can learn how to here.
The good ole scrabble game at the cottage is used to spell Dad!
5. The Center Piece
The center piece is a great way to add to your theme.
I used a minnow bucket and filled it with maple leaves.
Keep in mind you still want guests to see each other across the table.
The Table Is Set!!
Cheers to you DAD!!!
